At over 200 concerts per year (on stages like Vancouver's Yale, the Labatts Blues Festival in Quebec, Antwerp's Crossroads, Freiburg's Jazzhaus or Zagreb's B.P. Club), Canadian guitarist/singer Marty Hall skillfully exhibits his hypnotic blend of powerfully rhythmic attack, creative phrasing, biting solos and expressive vocals. Performing alone, in duo or with his full band, his repertoire is a well-crafted mix of moving originals and very personal adaptations of 40s' and 50s' era classics by legends such as Willie Dixon, Jimmy Reed, and Percy Mayfield.
Hall's line-up on the new album "Who's Been Talkin'?" is a uniquely refreshing one. Canadian harmonica soloist Butch Coulter is considered to be one of the finest blues-harp players in the world. A veteran of the stage, he has accompanied greats like Mick Taylor, Albert Collins, Jimmy Page and Long John Baldry. British bass and keyboard master Nigel Portman Smith has had a successful career playing with a variety of groups including Eric Burdon, Pentangle, Long John Baldry and Stan Webb. Sidney Selby (a/k/a Guitar Crusher or Bone Crusher), a living legend from the early days of Rhythm'n'Blues, made a vocal guest appearance on two tracks of the album. A highlight of today's rocking blues music, "Who's Been Talkin'?" offers classics by such as Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf and Otis Redding along with five of Marty Hall's originals. The first half of 1999 will see him on stage at numerous venues in France (Chamonix, Colmar), Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, and Austria.
